Since we do not have a physical office for our day-to-day activities, from the beginning Global Voices has organized annual meetings for our virtual community to meet face-to-face.
Our Summits and Arab Bloggers Meetings have gathered the most innovative and inspirational digital and citizen media activists around the world for workshops and discussions. The 2-4 day meetings spark new friendships and impressive collaborations across borders. Great food, excursions, and music always find a place in the schedule.
We try to meet in a new country each time. Thanks to the generosity of sponsors and friends we have held 12 meetings since 2005:
- Taipei, Taiwan – 2019
- Colombo, Sri Lanka – 2017
- Cebu, Philippines – 2015
- Amman, Jordan – 2014 (Arab Bloggers Meeting)
- Nairobi, Kenya – 2012
- Tunisia – 2011 (Arab Bloggers Meeting)
- Santiago, Chile – 2010
- Beirut, Lebanon – 2009 (Arab Bloggers Meeting)
- Beirut – 2008 (Arab Bloggers Meeting)
- Budapest, Hungary – 2008
- Delhi, India – 2006
- London, U.K. – 2005
Global Voices grew out of a one-day conference in December 2004 at Harvard Law School which brought bloggers from around the world together to discuss ways blogging could facilitate global dialogue at the grassroots level.
